Design and build large advertising tower

IN designing the I-tower the architect wanted to create a benchmark for how these large format advertising towers should look.
Studiotech were employed as principle contractor to design and deliver the tower in a very demanding timescale and on a site that was not only tight on space and access, but also a 45 degree gradient and adjacent the A40, London’s busiest arterial route.
We drew together a specialist team of engineers, fabricators and contractors including foundation specialists, steel workers and GRP manufacturers. Each element of the tower had to be fabricated in manageable sections off site and then delivered and erected with the aid of compact cranes and multiple road closures.
The tower is engineered so that all servicing and access is fully integrated within the structure yet invincible from outside.
The result is a super smooth polished monolith that by day sits proudly modern in the cityscape and by night becomes stealth like allowing the display to float apparently frameless in the night sky.
The design is crisp, clean and elegant and the finish as carefully detailed as the phone in your pocket.
As if to commend the design one of the first advertisers to book space on this iconic structure was Sony – we will leave you to guess what product it was they chose to advertise.
