Scope of works:
Bespoke feature lighting, branding and wayfinding.
Studiotech were invited to join the clients design team to provide the technical and engineering expertise for the delivery of several special lighting features and branding and wayfinding signage on this prestigious development in the centre of Wigan.
In order to maximise the exposure of the scheme for the local population, Studiotech compiled a full signage audit including route finding and transportation links from surrounding areas.
Having agreed the branding strategy, specialist fabricators were employed to manufacture and install the individual signs which included large format flex face panels with 3-dimensional acrylic logos, individual fabricated aluminium letters with LED illumination, polished stainless steel letters and bespoke fabricated aluminium panels to create a fully coherent suite of signs to maximise visibility and navigation to and within the scheme.
To further enhance the shopping experience, designers NRN wanted to create special features including interactive ponds, tree lined malls and lighting features.
The pinnacle of these features was the installation of 3No 4.5m long colour changing chandeliers within the main entrance atrium.
Studiotech engineered and fabricated the polished stainless steel chassis to carry the 64 LED colour changing lamps across 3 tiers. The lamps are positioned above the descending polycarbonate tubes lined with a bespoke reflective film which, when not lit, gave the appearance of a solid stainless tube. However, once illuminated, the reflective properties of the film allowed the light to bounce within the tube producing a truly stunning feature.
The three chandeliers were installed over 18m above the mall and each link via DMX controller to allow for seamless synchronised colour changing and sequences.
